Unspoken Beauty
This little girl is one of many young children we had the opportunity to meet at the Welcome House at Meeting Point Kampala. A true unspoken beauty, in a country full of juxtapositions, her stern, serious face collided beautifully with her bright floral dress.
The Welcome House is an orphanage at Meeting Point Kampala where there is care for children who are HIV positive or living with AIDS.
As of 2009, 1.2 million children have been orphaned due to AIDS and figures estimate 1.2 million people are living with HIV in Uganda (with and estimated 150,000 who are children (Source - Avert.org).

And…we’re off!
Today Michelle and I leave for our PHS Uganda Mission. We’ll be traveling to Kampala, Uganda and working with Meeting Point Kampala, whose mission is to “develop human potential of children, youth and women infected and affected by HIV/AIDS and increase literacy levels as well as creating awareness and behavioural change among all categories of people with the main focus on HIV/AIDS, its causes and effects”.
For more information, please visit our PHS website page about the trip!
Thank you for making Styles For Smiles 2012 a huge success!
The co-founders warmed up the photo booth with their smiles and colorful spring-threads. Big thanks to Carlos Gonzalez Photography for his talent, energy & awesomeness!
We’re getting your beautiful smiles together from the photo booth and they’ll be posted next week on the Styles For Smiles FB page and on our website (www.projecthealthysmile.org).

Last week Project Healthy Smile welcomed its youngest member: co-founder Michelle Patterson’s new baby girl Gwen.
Gwen’s style shows you can be fashionable at any age and for any cause!

I’m in D.C. with Project Healthy Smile and want to give them homage. I love the men here because they are so well dressed, groomed and true gentlemen.
When I looked around, I found that DeVon, Curator Of DC Style, captures the city’s vibe perfectly.
